The play is set in the home of Dr Richard Forth which is located in the seemingly quiet town of Bere Knighton. There is never a dull moment for the Doctor who has a hectic work schedule and an awkward friendship with his ex-girlfriend. His wife Barbara, suffers bouts of illness but no one knows what is wrong with her. Barbara’s health gets worse but she is not the only one. It’s not long before Eric Dawson, a stranger, turns up on their doorstep, claiming to have known Richard’s second fiancé, whom Richard claims does not exist. But a note in a book sparks Barbara’s curiosity, and it’s not long before the evidence that Richard may be a murderer begins to mount, leading to concerns for Barbara’s safety. It seems someone is out to kill Barbara, and anyone else who gets in the way.
