Minutes of the meeting of Trinity Players, Barnsley held at Trinity United Reformed Church, Farrer Street, Barnsley at 7.30pm on Thursday, October 3rd, 2013.

Present: Paul Taylor (chairman), Ruth Willerton (treas), Barbara Parkinson, Ian Harley, Peter Horner, Anne Prew and Jim Parkinson (by invitation under the committee’s powers of co-option)

Apologies: Karen Slater (Vice) and Dale Rivers (Sec.)

NOT WITH A BANG (NWAB), LAMPROOM THEATRE Oct. 16-19th: The chairman reported that the director, Sally Davies, had respectfully declined the invitation to attend but had reported verbally that there were no pressing concerns with regard to the production with regard to cast or props. She also understood from Neil Barham that no problems were envisaged with regards to set construction and transportation.

NWAB PUBLICITY: Anne reported that extra flyers had been ordered and distributed and things were in hand with regard to a cast montage for the programme and inclusion of an advertisement for the 2014 pantomime.  Ian Harley reported he had requested the Barnsley Chronicle to send a photographer to the October 7th dress rehearsal and intended submitting a short write-up along the lines of it being a ‘women on top’ show for the Chronicle’s October 11th issue.

NWAB FRONT OF HOUSE: Ian reported that had received some offers of help in the sale of raffle tickets and some offers of raffle prizes which, for convenience in this instance, should go to Ruth or Bob Willerton. He would, however, be sending out a further appeal for help to members in the near future. The committee decided that – in the event of a shortfall in the number of donated prizes – additional prizes should be purchased. The most suitable number for a Lamproom show being three prizes, ideally a bottle, chocolates and biscuits or similar.

PANTOMIME: The chairman reported that no one else had come forward to offer to direct the 2014 pantomime and no objections had been received about the dates put forward in the September newsletter.  It was therefore agreed that Bob Willerton’s offer to direct a production of ‘Robin Hood and Babes In The Wood’ at Trinity’s church hall on Fridays January 10th and 17th and Saturdays January 11th and 18th  should be graciously accepted. (The Friday shows being evening performances with Saturday afternoon matinee and evening shows).

SOCIETY FINANCES were discussed (available on applicaton)

THE CURRENT PRODUCTION FINANCES were discussed (available on application)

HUNTERS’ MOON: Peter stated that the Hunters’ Moon event at Langsett clashed with the final night of NWAB when he would be a member of the audience. It was hoped that a similar clash would be avoided next year and, indeed, that the extension at his home would be completed by then!

CHRISTMAS SOCIAL: Ardsley House, Tankersley Manor, Dodworth’s Welcome Inn (Brooklands) and Barnsley FC were among the venues approached with regards to a Christmas Social event. After studying dates and prices, the committee agreed to recommend a Christmas Party at Barnsley FC’s Oakwell home on Friday December 20th. Tickets for this 7pm-1am event may have to be limited and available on a first-come basis. They are priced at £22.95 and include a hot meal of Christmas Fayre (menu available) followed by disco with the bar open until 12.30am. Please note that this event will not be exclusively to TP members but we are likely to be by far the biggest group. Tickets and further information can be gained from Peter (07944 284757) who says he will also be present throughout the October 9th rehearsal with details about the menu and availability. Plan B – hopefully not required – consists of a similar event at a cost of £27.95 at Dodworth’s Welcome Inn.

POLO SHIRTS: The chairman reported that the Trinity Players polo shirts are expected to be delivered next week. While Paul is in London that week, he will endeavour to ensure they are available at the October 9th rehearsal. (It is hoped that those providing FoH services at the Lamproom will be in the polo shirts)
